Picture of Geforce GTX 280/260 chip

Die shot of the GT200 turned up

Beyond3d.com links to a picture of a chip, which is, according to the author, showing the GT200. This GPU will be placed on the Nvidia graphics cards Geforce GTX 280 and Geforce GTX 260.

Having reported on several rumors regarding the specifications of the Geforce GTX 200 series and even some alleged performance results, we now can provide a first Die shot of the GT200 graphics chip - if the information from the beyond3d.com forum is valid.

In the four corners of the chip, you can see ten quite regular structures, which could fit in with the ten shader clusters the GT200 is said to have. The cruciform structure in the middle should, in correlation, show the remaining parts of the chip like 2D chip and memory controller.

Another post from a usually reliable source, says that the chip of the Geforce GTX 280/260 will be structured like this:
• ~26,5 percent Shader-ALUs
• ~26 percent remaining parts of the Shader Cluster
• ~14,25 percent memory I/O
• ~8 percent memeory controller
• ~6,25 percent ROPs
Plus additional, non identifiable parts.
