Our review of the Chrome 430 GT showed it at the same level as the similar priced competitors. Now S3 Graphics introduced the Chrome 440 GTX.

Since we first tested the 430 GT about six weeks passed, but still there is no sign of the card.

Now it is time to take a look at the
Chrome 440 GTX. As
S3s Gstore reveals, it is a
Chrome 430 GT with an increased clock speed. The chip's clock speed is set from 625 MHz to 725 MHz (+16 percent) and GDDR3-RAM at 700 MHz is used. The 128 bit memory interface, some people hoped for, isn't there, too. S3 bets on a 64 bit interface again, because of which the actual bandwidth, compared to the
430 GT, is increased at about 40 percent. The calculation units of the GPU stay untouched: 32 shader ALUs and 4 TMUs. According to the manufacture the
Chrome 440 GTX beats a
Radeon HD 3470 at 3D Mark 06.

Our benchmarks indicated the
Chrome 430 GT to obviously have a bandwidth limitation. We suppose that the
440 GTX is going to be about 30 percent faster, with activated FSAA even more. We will test this as soon as possible.
