PhysX free for all

Nvidia: AMD can use PhysX via CUDA, too

Author: Kristoffer Keipp (Jun 09, 2008) - At their Editor's Day, Nvidia again pointed out the free availability of Physx. Developers, who want to use the physic calculation, just have to do this via Nvidia's CUDA.

With CUDA integrated into the driver, AMD could use PhysX with their more recent graphics cards. At first sight the integration of the technology doesn't have many drawbacks. Since Nvidia is supposed to add PhysX support to the "The way it's meant to be played” program, there should be a lot of games supporting the physic architecture in the future.

But AMD could also, in addition to their Californian rival's solution, use Intel's Havok, to make all the options available to their own customers - but even then it would be the question if game developers would integrate two physic engines into their games.
