New Nvidia DirectX 10 tech demo

GT200 Review: Pictures of the Geforce GTX 280/260 tech demo Medusa

In accordance to the launch day of the GT200 chip, Nvidia developed a new DX 10.0 tech demo, called Medusa. PCGH got some pictures in store for you.

With the launch of the GT200 we also take a look at the Medusa tech demo. Nearly every new generation of graphics accelerators is accompanied by a tech demo that shows the capabilities of the new hardware. In the meantime Nvidia has quite a lot of them: Nvidia's tech demos in a PCGH picture gallery

Unfortunately the Medusa tech demo isn't finished yet. So we can't offer screenshots or videos we made ourselves. Therefore we have to use material from Nvidia and a Chinese website. The latter one seems to have received a prerelease version of Medusa.

The tech demo uses DirectX 10.0 for its effects. Nvidia emphasizes the use of Geometry Shading and Stream Out functions. The face animation are said to be massively improved compared to the predecessor (Adrianne). The number of Blendshapes is said to be four or five times as complex with Medusa.
