Call of Duty: World at War

No visual differences between PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in Call of Duty: World at War?

In our interview with Cesar Stastny, the PC Lead on Call of Duty: World at War, says that there will be no visual difference between the consoles and the PC.
As our focus lays on the PC and PC games, we ask ourselves what are the disadvantages and benefits of such a decision. Cesar Stastny gives a clear answer to the latter aspect in the interview. He says that with a powerful PC the gamer will be able to play the game in higher resolutions, while on a system slower than the PS3 or the Xbox 360 it is possible to reduce some visuals.

Another point worth thinking about is the release date. Stastny says with the cross platform development it is possible to deliver the three versions to the market at around the same time and the PC gamers don't have to wait for a long time before they can play the game. Thinking of Halo and possibly GTA IV this is a good point as we think.

Of course there are a lot more aspects that should be taken into consideration when dealing with the everlasting discussion about the advantages and problems of programming a game or multiple platforms. And it is not easy for a developer to make a game that is equally accepted by PC or console gamers, since there will always be someone to find something that could have been made better if the game would have been optimized for a single platform.
