The little notebook - it weights noticeably less than one kilogram - is powered by an AMD Geode processor (LX 800) with 500 MHz. The basic configuration comes with 512 MiByte RAM - upgradeable to 1.5 GiByte. The 8 inch display is capable of resolutions up to 1,024 x 600.
As operating system a heavily modified Linux is used. Additional features: 20 GByte hard drive, onboard sound, webcam and a card reader. The Ecafe is supposed to be available for about €300 in September.
AMD specifies the power consumption of the
Geode LX800 with 0.9 watt - this even lower that Intel's Atom, but the clock speed of 500 MHz is accordingly low.
