Foxconn Renaissance

GC 2008: Foxconn X58 motherboard (Update: 12 new pictures)

Author: Daniel Möllendorf (Aug 25, 2008) - Officially no X58 boards were introduced on the Games Convention. But Foxconn's spokesman had a prerelease sample that we could take a closer look at.

Just like the other X58 motherboards that have been revealed by Asus and Gigabyte, the Renaissance will have six memory slots for Triple Channel mode. Foxconn put four slots for graphics cards on the board. With them the X58 chipset can handle up to four cards in Crossfire X. In the quadruplet setup, each card can use eight PCI-E 2.0 lanes.

In addition to the six SATA ports of the ICH10R Southbridge there are two additional ports operated by an additional controller. Further features: one x4 slot, digital sound output and a PATA connector. The pictured board is a prerelease version. Some braze points were handcrafted. The Renaissance is said to be available in about two months. Foxconn is planning an additional X58 high-end board designed for overclockers.

Update: We have 12 new pictures of the Foxconn X58 board.
