New at the PCGH Test Lab: Roccat Kone

Since the Cebit 2007 many gamers wait for Roccat's first high-end gaming mouse. After several delays the markets were finally supplied after the Games Convention 2008. PCGH took a closer look at the mouse.

The Roccat Kone is a laser mouse for right-handed gamers. The laser has a maximal sample rate of 3,200 dpi. There is a 4-way wheel and seven buttons, which can be configurable at will - except the two main buttons. Underside the mouse, weights between 5 and 20 grams can be installed - thus the mouse weights between 118 grams (no weight) and 124 grams (the 20 grams weight).

Behind the mouse wheel are two configurable buttons, whose preset defines them as dpi switches. With the comfortable driver you can choose if you want to switch between two or more dpi levels - six levels can be saved at the same time. The little button in front of the wheel offers an alternative for switching dpi levels. On the left side of the mouse are two buttons that can be operated with the thumb.

The Kone has an extensive lighting system with multiple colors and effect modes. Beside the Roccat logo there are two stripes on the mouse that can be illuminated. A new feature is the "Tracking Control Unit”. With the driver you can adjusted the strength of the laser to the surface.
