How secure is private data today? China is the place for a new personal data security scandal. According to
information by Spiegel Online the provider of Skype in China, the company TOM, has spied on the customers. According to a report, online conversations that contain special keywords have been recorded. Among those words were democracy, Olympic Games and Tibet says Spiegel Online. Even more distressing is that excerpts of text chats have been recorded and stored on servers that were easy to crack.
Skype boss Silverman said that he was absolutely unaware of the data recordings. The problem is said to be solved already. TOM explained that their actions were legitimate according to Chinese law.
