Besides real jewels like X-Wing, Tie Fighter or Jedi Knight there have also been games about Vader, Skywalker and all the others, that can be called “poor” at best.

Join us on this trip to a galaxy far, far away. In the first part of this series you will find the games that have been published between the years 1983 and 2000.

Star Wars: X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter, 1997 (picture: Mobygames.com) - An upgraded successor of the X-Wing series. In matters of gameplay everything keeps the same.

Well, no.
You don't remember XvT, do you??

That has nothing to do with its predecessors, it was something completely new!
So it has no campaign like X-Wing oder TIE-Fighter (well, balance of powers delivered a short campaign).
Also some ships like the TIE Defender or the Missle Boat were missing.

It's just a real multiplayergame, that really ****s if you play it alone...
Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance, 1999 (picture: Mobygames.com) - A good remake of the space simulator. A great story, some tricky missions and up to date graphics were the most important features.

And it was the last Star Wars space simulator, nothing came after XWA

I really loved the original X-Wing - and this was a game for a decent joystick as well. Unfortunately, both seem to be gone.

If only we could see one more Xwing simulator like the original Xwing . Xwing vs Tie Fighter was ok but not my preference. Xwing Alliance was the 1st game that allowed you to play online through the Zone Gaming Network. Xwing was one of few games that allowed you to rank up and ultimately control your own squad. I'm not sure if Red Baron had the same kind of ranking up.
