By now a lot of X58 motherboards for Intel's Core i7 CPUs are available, but the price is still very high.
Most of the socket 1366 boards cost at least 250 Euro. Only the Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4 and the MSI X58 Platinum are considerably lower priced with 230 Euro. Unfortunately no retailer has these two boards in stock at the moment.
The Asus Rampage II Extreme with at least 325 Euro is the most expensive board and also not available at the moment.
Aside from EVGA and Foxconn, all manufacturers offer at least two alternatives, often a more pricy SLI version or a prestige model like the formerly mentioned Asus Rampage II Extreme with even more functionalities.
Together with the most favorable priced socket 1366 CPU, the Core i7 920 for about 300 Euro, the new Intel platform stays an expensive affair. In most cases additional cost come up for DDR3 RAM and the compatible CPU cooler.
