AMD CPU Roadmap: More than four cores and APU from 2011

Author: Thilo Bayer (Nov 14, 2008) - At the current Financial Analyst Day AMD announced a new CPU roadmap. It presents the first 32 nanometer CPUs for desktop PCs as well as laptop processors.
The desktop CPUs Deneb and Propos on 45 nm basis are old friends (four CPU cores, DDR2/DDR3, 8 and 2 MiByte cache respectively). The notebook CPUs Caspian (dual core, 2009, DDR2) and Champlain (Quad-Core, 2010, DDR3) are new. In the ultra portable department AMD introduces Conesus (Dual-Core, 1 MiByte Cache, 2009, DDR2) and Geneva (Dual-Core, 2 MiByte Cache, 2010, DDR3).

In 2011 AMD wants to launch 32 nm CPUs as well as the first desktop CPUs with more than four cores and over 8 MiByte cache (Codename: Orochi). Llano and Ontario are supposed have an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). The integrated GPU will be used in desktop PCs, laptops and ultra portable devices.
