Via BIOS update many motherboards have already been made compatible to the new Phenom II processors. If you have a board with a 790GX, 790FX, 790X or 780G chipset, the possibility that you can use a Phenom II on the device is quite high.

Probably around January the first Phenom II CPUs will be available to those users who want to upgrade their system. Asus, Biostar, Elitegroup, Gigabyte and MSI already listed their current AM2+ motherboards compatible to Phenom II. Asrock told us that on December 9, BIOS updates for the boards A770DE, A780GXE and AOD790GX will be published. On their website DFI writes that the motherboards listed in the charts will support "futurity AMD CPUs” - we think that Phenom II is meant by that.
Especially boards with the current AMD chipsets are suitable for the latest AMD CPU generation. Some boards with Nvidia chipsets also offer support. We put the most important Phenom II compatible motherboards in charts and added some pictures of the possible upgrade candidates to the gallery.
