Engine and system requirements
Since Chronicles of Spellborn had been under construction since 2004 it is based on the Unreal Engine 2.5. Because of that searching for sharp textures or complex Shader effects will be in vain, but nevertheless the game convinces with a good level architecture - the atmosphere is just right. You can find a lot of impressions from The Chronicles of Spellborn in the gallery, some high-res screenshots will be delivered separately.

Most crucial for a fluid visualization is a fast processor. The graphics card only has a limited effect, as long as it is a current middle-class or former high-end device like the HD 3850 or the X1900XT. At high details on the other hand even a Core 2 with 3.6 GHz and a Geforce GTX280 are running on their limits - on our tour through the area you start in the frame rate often dropped below 30 fps at 1,280 x 1,024. It is possible that Spellborn isn't fully optimized yet.

Chronicles of Spellborn: The video options
Chronicles of Spellborn offers a lot of individual settings, but for some options you have to restart the game. You can alter the basic features like resolution, brightness, contrast and full screen mode. Furthermore there are individual settings for mesh details, environment details, character details and the range of visibility. Bloom effects, terrain decoration, lightmaps as well as high quality sunlight and fog can be activated separately. The video options also offer the possibility to set Anti Aliasing and anisotropic filtering. Forcing unofficial modes like Super Sampling via the driver works without problems.

All screenshots were taken at 2,560 x 1,600 on a Geforce GTX280, but are displayed at 1,280 x 800. On the next pages we offer comparative pictures and in the gallery you can find additional screenshots.
