Serious times for publisher Eidos: Reportedly, despite the sound sales of Tomb Raider: Underworld studio Crystal Dynamics seems to face layoffs. 30 positions have supposedly been cut.

Eidos confirms that the latest game around the archaeologist Lara Croft has not quite fulfilled the expectations yet. Particularly the slow sales in North America are supposed to be responsible for this situation. Nor did the company's annual revenue meet the expectations either. 180 to 200 million pounds were previously forecast. The adjusted figures now say 160 to 180 million pounds.

Well if 1.5m sales is not enough anymore... This is not so good.

Publishers will look to finish games as fast as possible and will always go the safest route that generates the biggest sales...

Seems like only the really really biggest companies can survive these days.. and they are not experimenting with new ideas almost never... :/

The PC version is very good. I like it.

Interesting how its become more acknoledged that game companies look at initial sales weekends kindof like how movie success is rated..

There used to be a time when movies used to look at monthly sales.. when black and white movies were released like two new movies per month.. Now its gotta a be a blow-out in a weekend.

Guess games are travelling the same way putting more pressure on staff to produce thrilling sales...

Is less staff the answer? Are they actually re-filling these positions?
or just due to poor economy closing the position.

I wouldnt be able to buy this game unless i traveled 130 km to get it. which i did lol
(my hometown hasnt even gotten its shipment of Tomb Raider Underworld)
