Several websites reported that Nvidia plans to push the renaming of Geforce graphics cards. The OEM versions of the Geforce 9500 GT and 9600 GSO have already been relabeled and the European consumer electronics trader Media Markt already offered PCs with them.

Now it seems like Nvidia will also rename the retail cards. According to reports , the Geforce 9800 GT and the Geforce 9800 GTX+ will be reintroduced with new names at the Cebit. Besides the labeling and the BIOS there won't be further changes.

Graphics card (old) Graphics card (new) Code name
Geforce 9500 GT Geforce GT 120 G96
Geforce 9600 GSO Geforce GT 130 G92/G94
Geforce 9800 GT Geforce GTS 240 G92/G94
Geforce 9800 GTX+ Geforce GTS 250 G92b

In early January Nvidia already changed the names in the mobile GPU sector. Nvidia did not comment on the subject. We expect more information during Cebit 2009.
