15 processors tetsted in codename Panzers - Cold War

Codename Panzers - Cold War: Benchmark review with 15 CPUs

The strategy game Codename Panzers - Cold War is scheduled for release in March, but PC Games Hardware already ran benchmarks with 15 processors.

Codename Panzers - Cold War: Gepard Engine
The third part of the Codename Panzers series is based on the Gepard Engine. The DirectX 9 renderer has been taken over with the project when the developer changed (Inno Glow instead of Storm Region), but it was upgraded with multithreaded physics: Codename Panzers offers a complex Ragdoll model, shockwaves that interact with the environment and a realistic realization of twisting metal. For more information see our technical interview with the developers of Codename Panzers - Cold War.

Codename Panzers - Cold War: Processor benchmarks
Our benchmark sequence shows several tanks and vehicles, which are engaged in a rather big encounter. As usual for our benchmarks, this is one of the most challenging scenes for the hardware - if you reach more than 15 frames per second in this sequence, then Codename Panzers - Cold War will run smoothly on your system in almost every other situation.

The game is scaling excellent with increasing clock speeds and receives a performance benefit from more L2 cache. But if you use a quad-core processor instead of a dual-core CPU, you won't receive noticeable performance benefits. The comparatively low performance of all the Phenoms is probably caused by our Review Code and things might look different in the final version or when the first patch is released.
