Microsoft confirmed that five different versions of Window 7 will be available Germany - and thus probably in most European countries. A special Starter Edition for netbooks is said to be planned, too.

Microsoft will offer the Starter Edition of Windows 7 for netbooks. This version will not have the Windows Media Center and only three applications can be run simultaneously. During the press conference at the Cebit Microsoft also empathized that every Windows 7 version would run on a netbook.
The most important variant of Windows 7 will probably be the Windows 7 Home Premium which is the default version that will be pre-installed on most end customer PCs. It offers the Media Center, home networks (no domain login, but Homegroup) and multi-touch support. Windows 7 Professional is intended for middle-class businesses and will support domains. For big businesses Microsoft will offer the Enterprise Edition which will be available as a volume license only.
Enthusiasts can expect Windows 7 Ultimate that offers all multimedia and network features of the other Windows 7 editions.
