Crysis, and the CryEngine 2 which it is based on, isn't just a game anymore but also a technology playground. A modification is supposed to perfect the time of day simulation in order to get closer to photorealism.

Modder Hawkeye|Puppy reveals in Crytek's official Crymod Forum, how he wants to reach photorealistic graphics by adjusting the Time of the Day parameters. The textures aren't changed and the modder wants to be able to visualize a whole day perfectly when the work is finished.
