Our collection of faked game screenshots is rather diversified. We gathered real screenshot scandals, where game publishers had released pictures which had been meddle with and that showed graphics never possible in the final game. Also on board: Faked screenshots made by users that have been distributed via the internet. Furthermore we have screenshots that aren't faked actually but never occurred in the games when those were released. Some examples of games in our gallery: C&C Renegade, Tiberian Sun, Duke Nukem Forever, Call of Duty 4, DirectX 11, Far Cry 2, Half-Life 3, Flight Sim X, Age of Conan, Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Diablo 3 and Windows 7.
In the preview gallery you can fast forward the pictures. If you place your cursor over the picture, you can read the subtitle.
You miss a certain screenshot fake or game? Then tell us in the comments. We also plan to assemble a similar article for hardware fakes.
Update: April 1 has caused a new wave of faked game screenshots. A popular gag had been the announcement of text adventures and it seems like Blizzard employs a lot of funny people. Have fun with new faked game screenshots
Update June 29, 2009 Since the topic DirectX 11 is important on numerous websites new DirectX 11 fake screenshots have appeared again. Even the April Fool's joke that rasterization would be replaced by ray tracing still persists.
