The launch of a new graphics card generation is traditionally accompanied by a tech demo. PC Games Hardware assembled a download collection of the official Geforce tech demos.
Nvidia tech demos: Dusk, Pixel-Shader-2.x-Demo of the Geforce FX (2003) [Source: view picture gallery]
From simple Hardware TnL demos like Wanda aka "L-A- Girl” over Dawn/Dusk, the famous elves of the Geforce FX series, and Nalu/Luna (Geforce 6800 respectively Geforce 7800) to the quite realistic renderings of Adrienne Curry and the Silver Surfer actor Doug Jones of the Geforce 8 series: All of them are part of our tech demo collection. With the GT200 launch demo Medusa Nvidia goes back to the Fantasy genre. The latest tech demo that shows a real-time rendered Bugatti Veyron with Ray Traced reflections is currently not available to the public.
In our assembly of Geforce tech demos you can find some very interesting files that aren't mentioned on the official list at
Nzone.com - among them is for example X-Isle, one of Crytek's early projects. In our gallery below we also offer screenshots that have been taken with modern technology and maximal Anti Aliasing. If you don't have a Geforce graphics card, or want to take a look at the side, you might be interested in the
Radeon tech demos from 2001 until today.
As a little tip we would like to recommend the Ogre demo of the Geforce FX series. The jazzy soundtrack and the funny plot create a nice atmosphere. Clear Sailing of the Geforce 6 series is also worth looking at since the naval battles of Empire: Total War and Anno 1404 make the theme up-to-date again.
Which of the demos do you like best? Or do you miss a certain demo in our list? Tell us about it and use the comments.
