Thats very very true. Stalker is not only graphics. It uses resources also for other things except graphics and physics for example the A-Life AI system. For sure its not perfect but it tries to innovate. What it is implemented in Stalker A-Life is a small part of what truly A-Life system can do.

Stalker is a lot more advanced than other FPS games such as Left4Dead... L4D is quite a simple game... its also mostly a corridor shooter and the parts outside look nothing like Stalker... day /night cycle, dynamic lighting etc....

So yes this game will be more demanding than others, but I do admit CS is a bit too demanding at 7 to 9am because of a bug id say.

I've read that the 1.6 engine version offers up to 50% improvement in FPS... which would make it quite playable even on older hardware.

Looking forward to this one a lot.
