Asus Dual GTX 285 sets new World Record

Two GTX 285s combined in one graphics card - the concept of Asus' GTX 295 Mars is extreme.
Just recently the first pictures and details of Asus' GTX 295 Mars have been published on the internet. The graphics card combines two Geforce GTX 285s in a single device - with a sandwich layout like it is used for the GTX 295. Each of the two GPUs has access to 2 GiByte GDDR3 VRAM via a 512 Bit interface. Thus the GTX 295 Mars has an impressive overall video memory amount of 4 GiByte. Asus has limited the card to 1,000 units. A price has not been released.

The cover of the GTX 295 Mars could still be changed for the final product. All in all the card is a little thicker but not longer than a normal GTX 295.

At Nordichardware the first benchmark results of the cards have been published already. But overclocker Kinc didn't just use a "normal” Quad-SLI setup but used liquid nitrogen to increase the clock speeds of the two GTX 295 Mars to 833 MHz (GPU) and 1,279 MHz (VRAM). In combination with a Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 running at 4,785 MHz this was enough to reach 25,057 points in 3DMark Vantage (GPU Score: 24,879; CPU Score: 28,992) - a new World Record.
