Our colleagues of hellforge.com wanted to know how boss battles will be realized in Diablo 3 and if they play out as predictable as they were in Diablo 2. Blizzard's community manager Bashiok announced that the game will offer unique boss fights and he even talked about such a fight - "totally hypothetical”, of course.
Bashiok confirmed that some boss battles will be more than just having to fight a creature with almost unlimited power. The boss fights will be provided with more unique mechanics this time.
According to Bashiok the delivery of the usual health globes during a boss fight could be much different in Diablo 3. It is planned to give some control to the individual player: In Bashiok's example the boss could be provided with a special attack that unleashes the health globes but it will be up to the player how he leads the boss to do so. Furthermore the object that contains the health globes could be treated by the player itself and so on. For more details please refer to the
interview on the hellforge website.
What do you think about the idea of unique boss fights in Diablo 3? Or did you like the predictable boss battles of Diablo 2 better? Will the new player mechanics increase replayability of the game? Please tell us in the comments.
