The Open Source messenger Miranda IM is compatible to several chat protocols ex factory and can be upgraded with plug-ins. Miranda is mainly used as an ICQ alternative, but can deal with AIM, Gadu Gadu, IRC, Jabber, MSN, Netsent, Tlen and Yahoo. Skype and X-Fire can be integrated via plug-ins.
Miranda can be used with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. After the installation the program can be transfer to an USB storage device and thus is usable on almost any PC. The instant messenger convinces with low workload for the system and is free of advertising. Furthermore the possibility to integrate plug-ins makes the program versatile.
