Sam Fisher will be back on the screens in Splinter Cell: Conviction which is said to be released in October 2009. Only little information about the latest part of the Splinter Cell series is available, but Ubisoft just gave us some details on the technical aspects.

PCGH: Why did you choose to use Unreal Engine 2 instead of Unreal Engine 3?
Ubisoft: We're using our own engine, LEAD, which is an evolution from the engine used in SCCT.

PCGH: What are the strengths of this engine?
Ubisoft: • Amazing lighting engine, all lights are dynamic in the maps and can be dynamically activated and deactivated.
• A fully dynamic environment
• Latest enhancements, such as ambient occlusion or destructible environment
• Powerful to display a large amount of objects on screen
• Crowd management, even if not core to the gameplay
Up to now only some videos and screenshots of Splinter Cell: Conviction have been published and Ubisoft said that the game will blow you away.

When I was watching the E3 trailers I thought that it looked a little too good to be using the unreal engine, I guess this just confirms it. After double agent I sure hope this one is a lot better.
