At the Siggraph 2009 Crytek revealed new information about the Cryengine 3, which had been announced in March, and also released new technology screenshots. Among the features offered by the Cryengine 3 that are listed in the Crytek presentation it is noted that
"DirectX 11 API is coming soon...”. So apparently the developers are already preparing support for the new programming interface.
The first DirectX 11 hardware has already been on display and Windows 7, which will be released on October 22, supports the new API, too. Furthermore it has been announced by Codemasters, that the delayed PC version of
Colin McRae: Dirt 2 will be a DirectX 11 title. Therefore it is not unlikely that Crytek is already working to implement the the new API in order to make use of its features as soon as possible.
