AMD Opteron: 6-core CPU with 40 W ACP

The ACP (Average CPU Power) of the new AMD 6-core CPU is specified with 40 W only. The Opteron 2419 EE is running at 1.8 GHz with a core voltage of only 1.125 volt. The size of the caches is 6x 128 KiByte L1 cache respectively 6x 512 KiByte L2 cache. The 6 MiByte L3 cache is global and can be accessed from any core.

Memory is addressed with 2,000 MHz. the CPU production is running in the 45 nanometer SOI process. For the Opteron's primary field of operation as a virtualized server multiple cores are more important than the calculating power of the CPU. The power consumption (which is currently 55 W ACP on average) can only be compared among Opteron processors since AMD doesn't specify the TDP anymore. Thus comparisons to Intel processors are not possible.

The first 12-core processors are expected within the next 5 months.
