Wolfenstein: Funny and impressive details

Language Bugs: Why Germans laugh about Wolfenstein

The FPS game Wolfenstein offers a lot of details aside from the gunfights. But although the developers tried their best, there nevertheless are some mistakes that are quite amusing, especially for Germans.

Raven Software's Wolfenstein is not only a shooter with a supernatural touch. Wolfenstein is also one of the games that have a lot of nice details which are not relevant for the gameplay but only for the atmosphere. Gamers that just rush through the levels trying to beat the game as fast as possible usually don't see those details - although they are worth looking at. Everywhere in the game there are propaganda posters and billboards for fictional products. The interior of many rooms has also been designed with a lot of effort. In combination with the collectible secret files it bears a lot of resemblance to the great No One Lives Forever (2000).

But since it is always difficult to deal with a foreign language the developers of Wolfenstein made some little mistakes that are quite amusing for people that speak German. Besides those there are also some glitches that are just funny in a strange way. In our gallery we present examples from Raven Software's game that make people, and especially German gamers, smile or reveal an impressive richness of details. Have fun with the many atmospheric details and the best language bugs in Wolfenstein.

If you're going to write an article about mistakes in a game, you should make sure your article doesn't have some of the same mistakes...

"This map has an even lower resolution than the last one."

Thanks for the hint. I fixed the mistake.

Btw: That's exactly what this is all about. Actually there should not be mistakes in any article or game but they always have been and always will be - especially if you are dealing with a foreign language.

im playing this game at the moment, actually quite enjoying it..it does a pretty good job of recreating that ww2 feel(well, not that i was there or anything :P)..strange that they made so many linguistic errors, theres no way a company like id would skimp over something as essential as hiring a german translator,so you can only presume that the fault was his/hers(unless they really were on a tight budegt and just used a dictionnary/google translate lol).
its a strange game, obviously pretty cliched and at times it seems very rushed(quake 3 quality graphics abound, just check out the abysmal sky/clouds) though they obviously have taken time with certain set time pieces.

Grow up, learn a little bit more of education and to do CONSTRUCTIVE commentaries, dude.

And do not generalice so fast& easily. Because I also think if you are setting an ambientation for a game, the least you could do for a GOOD localization is to hire or consult a profesional Translator and Interpreter: it is the less you can do. Has Id S. no money for it or what? X D!

Id Sofware save off the money in this aspect? ok, but now everybody who speaks german is laughing. U.S. creative industrive should look with a little more seriously and profesional touch this kind of aspects.

This new Id Software is a videoconsolish thing: What do you thing I posted old Tech 4 engine pics from its previous game? (only with 2 graphical tweaks looks even better) Just to show how PC´s Doom3 looks very simular after 5 years to last Id S. game.

IF not even better than this last one, at least than consoles version.

Hope with Singularity they do not have russian language mistakes.....
