DirectX is Microsoft's own interface (API) which gives Windows programs access to the hardware. Besides video and audio files this connection is also responsible for the signals of input devices. The latest version of Windows XP has the serial number 9.0c, while Windows Vista is supplied with DirectX 10.1. The SDK already contains the forthcoming API DirectX 11, which will be used for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The DirectX Redist is about 100 MByte big and SDK reaches about 550 MByte. Logged in PC Games Hardware users can download the old versions them below. Our sister site offers high speed downloads for DirectX 11 and DirectX 10 as well.
