Downsampling extreme

Crazy Crysis screenshot: 25600 x 16000 pixels

400 megapixel screenshots of Crysis? That doesn't just sound crazy, it really is crazy. Nevertheless: Crysis in 25600 x 16000 is worth every single picture; or two perhaps.

User OC_Burner from the 3D Center Forum dealt with the Downsampling technique in order to create Crysis screenshots so big that they are almost obscene. While "normal” Downsampling was still playable, OC-Burner's method means: Taking screenshots on a wing and prayer. The high resolution in combination with the low framerate is definitely not playable for real. So the technique is only for taking screenshots. Two of the Ultra-High-Res pictures (each of the jpg files is almost 100 MByte big) can be found as downloads at the end of the page while the other pictures have been downsized to 1280 x 800 respectively 1280 x 720 pixels to fit into our gallery.

If you want to know exactly how OC-Burner took the screenshots, we recommend that you take a look at the posting in the 3D Center Forum (German language!). For more information about Downsampling take a look at the article Crysis at 6,400 x 4,000: Ultra High-Res Gaming with 25.6 megapixels.
