How Fujitsu motherboards and PCs are produced

In Augsburg Fujitsu is producing motherboards, PCs and notebooks. PC Games Hardware was allowed to take a look at the production plant.

Fujitsu invited PC Games Hardware to visit the production facility in Augsburg, Germany. Of course we couldn't let such an opportunity slip away and traveled to Fujitsu taking our photo and video cameras with us. In the plant we were shown how the company produces motherboards, desktop PCs and notebooks.

According to Fujitsu the factory in Augsburg is among the most effective plants in the world. About 9,000 motherboards are assembled every day. In our gallery you can find pictures of the motherboards production - which starts with the assembly and ends with the final tests.

Fujitsu factory visit: PC and notebook production
Fujitsu runs two production halls in Augsburg. In one of them PCs with low volume contracts are build. Each system is assembled completely by a single employee. The second hall is for the high volume contracts. Several workers are producing components for a PC system on an assembly line. Right after the final tests the PCs are packed and send to the shipping department - interim storage on the site is not a part of the process.

Fujitsu factory visit: Test Center
Fujitsu isn't only producing electronics in Augsburg, but also build a test center for product development. Things like electromagnetic compatibility, product safety as well as climate, thermography, mechanisms, packing, acoustic noises and wear are tested. One of the most important laboratories deals with the electromagnetic compatibility and the required measurements and interference suppression of PCs and other devices. In the 10 meter absorber room (9 kHz to 40 GHz) for example the electromagnetic interferences are recorded. The test sample is placed on a turntable and stressed with a lot of peripheral devices and a challenging test in order to detect interferences. Of course it is also possible to check the noise.
