On the occasion of the Intel Developer Forum 2009 (IDF) from September 22-24, 2009 several producers want to present their prototypes for the upcoming USB 3.0 port. The new standard is said to allow up to ten times more data throughput combined with less power consumption.

Point Grey Research wants to introduce a video camera with a proper USB memory card. The new USB 3.0 standard should allow streaming of uncompressed HD films (1080p) with up to 60 frames per second to appropriate output devices.

Asus is said to present a motherboard with X58 chipset which will offer USB 3.0 ports. Fujitsu will show a notebook with an external hard drive which is laid out for the new interface as well.

Generally USB 3.0 offers many new options due to the considerably increased bandwidth. When appropriate controllers, motherboards and devices will hit the mainstream market has not been officially announced yet.
