AMD stops driver support for Ati Radeon graphics cards which used the API DirectX 9. Under Windows 7 those models are not supported at all. The last official driver is Catalyst 9.8.

AMD announces that Ati Radeon graphics cards with DirectX 9 will not be officially supported under Windows 7 anymore. Bottom line, owners of such cards have to rely on Vista drivers. Furthermore the chip specialist states that WDDM 1.1 under Window 7 won't be supported either.
AMD won't assist in case of any corresponding problems. Driver development for AMD DirectX 9 graphics cards ends with Catalyst 9.8. Affected are all IGP chips (integrated graphics unit) as well.
