Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - The Engine Since the second part of the series Infinity Ward uses an in-house engine for the CoD games - in this case it is version "IW 4.0”. The enhanced version offers excellent texture streaming which delivers quite good textures - even on the consoles. The visualization of particles and the physics have also been upgraded. Thus it is now possible to destroy a lot more objects. Regardless of the "old” engine and the cross platform development the graphics of Modern Warfare 2 are looking very good, although a lot of that is related to the action-packed story. In our gallery you can find more than 20 screenshots which have been taken at a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels with 2x SSAA and 16:1 AF.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Minimal versus Maximal Details With max details, Anti aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering Modern warfare 2 is looking quite good. Detailed and mostly sharp textures make the figures appear realistic - especially faces and cloths are well done. In motion some shadows flicker and have a comparatively low resolution.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Widescreen Support? Like its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 supports different aspect ratios in the game options and automatically adjusts the displayed picture accordingly. In our comparison you can for example see the waypoint only with a 16:10 ratio. The horizontal field of view is bigger while the vertical is just the same in comparison to 5:4. Especially in multiplayer games this can be an advantage.
