Since the second part of the series Call of Duty is based on Infinity Ward's in-house engine and the currently used version is called IW 4.0. This enhanced structure offers excellent texture streaming which - even on the consoles - delivers quite sharp textures as long as they are not too far away from the player. The visualization of particles and the physics have also been upgraded. Thus it is now possible to destroy a lot more objects. Regardless of the "old” engine and the cross platform development the graphics of Modern Warfare 2 are looking very good, although a lot of that is related to the action-packed story.

But as usual there are some graphical drawbacks. While characters, close textures and the delivered atmosphere in general, are convincing, there are many low-res textures and sometimes exaggerated Depth of Field as well as clipping bugs, too. In our gallery you can see some examples.
