Left 4 Dead 2 has been released, only one year after the first part. Nevertheless the game seems to be popular among journalists and fans. At Metacritics, a review collection site, it reached 90 percent on average and the user ratings are quite good, too - Nine out of ten possible points. After the game has now finally been published, there now are the first screenshots that make the aged engine shine again. In our preview gallery you can find several pictures from screenshots artist Jay.Gee who proved several times to have a talent for impressive images. The original shots were taken at 1680 x 1050 with 8x MSAA and 16:1 AF.

Have fun with the Source Engine Left 4 Dead 2 screenshots. If you have some worth-seeing L4D2 pictures yourself, feel free to post them in the comments.

Is there any limit to the Source engine? It looks like there isn't!

As a huge fan of the whole Half Life series and a regular player of Team Fortress 2, I am impressed to see how much has changed or been added by Valve over the years. With the Cinimatic Mod adding yet more depth and awe to the Half Life world, and the upcoming Black Mesa Source mod, the Source engine seems unstoppable.

I will confess, I've not yet played Left for Dead 1 or 2, mainly because of spending too much time building Sentries and demoing bunkers on the TF2 servers, or getting my kicks out of HL2 FF style.

Hopefully be Playing LFD 1 and 2 when I can get a more up to date PC built. My aging rigg has hit a few limits now with the hardware upgrades, so it's time to start again with a new rig.

That is the point: Unreal Engine and Source are nowdays very easy to execute and maximized at 1920 x 1200.

Plus if you do a 64 Bits O.S. Enchanced for, as Cinematic´s Fake Factory Mod does in its latters version (10.2), you can do a little extra tricks more with Valve´s engine.

As in your previous "Source Maxed Out" report (HL2, Zeno Clash, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, etc), won´t it be this game able to run at 1920 x 1200 ? Thanks by anticipated.
