Finally Bioshock 2 has hit the markets. But although the game has been under development for quite some time there still are widescreen problems that already affected Bioshock 1 back in 2007.

Original article: February 10, 2010 Bioshock 2 is one of the games people have been waiting for during the last months. Now that it has been released, many people are disappointed by the partially out-dated graphics and several other problems. One of the issues gamers complain about is the inappropriate widescreen support. Like its predecessor Bioshock 2 does not scale properly at screen resolutions that don't have a 4:3 aspect ratio. This is quite surprising, because Bioshock 1 had the same problem and 2K tried to fix it with a patch after users complained.
Now, only few days after the new Bioshock has hit the markets, gamers once again have to face an insufficient widescreen support. On the screenshots posted in the
Widescreen Gaming Forum you can see that Bioshock 2 delivers a combination of horizontal plus and vertical minus. This means the game adds a little bit to the sides of the displayed image, but also cuts the upper and lower edge. Even in
2K's official forum people have started to complain about the situation and one of the community managers wrote that 2K is aware of the problem and that a fix is on the way.
Update: February 11, 2010 2K's community manager Elizabeth officially announced that the problem with the
widescreen support will be fixed with the first patch for the PC version. When this update is going to be released has not been revealed yet. Elizabeth also said that actually Bioshock 2 was intended to be released with the same widescreen capabilities like Bioshock 1 offered them after it had been patched.
The picture below shows how the game will look like with the fixed FOV.
